Gaeil Colmcille looked to continue their good League run when they made the trip down the M3 to face Dunshaughlin who defeated Wolfe Tones in the previous round.

In a tense opening half where tempers flared at times, it was Gaeil Colmcille who got the opening score thanks to Liam Ferguson who was lining out at Midfield. Dunshaughlin levelled up straight away and soon took the lead from a free kick. Kells did get level once again on 7 minutes when corner forward Brian Hanlon pointed from a free. Both sides traded point for point up until the break with Hanlon adding three more points. On 27 minutes an Evan Sheridan point was enough to see the Kells men go in at Half-Time a slender 0-07 to 0-06 point lead.

Dunshaughlin put the pressure on early on at the start of the second half and put pressure on the Gaeil Colmcille kick-outs which saw the home side get two scores to take an 0-08 to 0-07 lead after 38 minutes. Gaeil Colmcille rattled off the next three scores with Hanlon and Sheridan getting points either side of a Seamus Mattimoe point. Heading into the final quarter of the game and it was the Gaeils who were doing the pressing and after a Dunshaughlin kick out went over the sideline, quick thinking Sheridan played a ball to Fionn Reilly who turned his marker and played Hanlon through on goal and despite the efforts from the Dunshaughlin keeper the ball found its way to the back of the net.

Two more points from Mattimoe and Hanlon saw Kells extend their lead and when Hanlon found the net for the second time it looked as if Kells had secured the win. A brace of points from Mattimoe and a point each for Reilly brothers Fionn and Oisin ensured Gaeil Colmcille the 11 point win to keep their league final hopes alive
