The draws for the 2021 Championships took place in Pairc Tailteann on Sunday afternoon. Gaeil Colmcille had teams involved in four of these draws, Senior Football, Premier Championship Division 1, Premier Championship Division 7 and Intermediate Hurling.

Senior

First draw up was the Fairyhouse Steel Meath Senior Football Championship and after the heartbreak of 2020 the lads will be hoping to go one better in 2021. Gaeil Colmcille were drawn in Group B along side Wolfe Tones who they’ll face in mid August in the opening round,  2016 and 2017 Keegan Cup winners Simonstown and Moynalvey. For 2021 the Quarter-Finals are back with the top two in each group qualifying. The bottom 4 sides are all eligible for relegation with three playoff games confirming who goes down. Group A: Navan O’Mahony’s, Donaghmore/Ashbourne, Ratoath, Dunshaughlin.

Group B: Curraha, Na Fianna, St. Colmcille’s, Ballinabrackey

Group C: Gaeil Colmcille, Wolfe Tones, Simonstown, Moynalvey

Group D: Seneschalstown, Summerhill, Skryne, St. Peter’s, Dunboyne.

Premier Championship Division 1

After surviving the drop last year with a last round win over Summerhill in Grangegodden, our second team retained their Division 1 status and will open their campaign against Seneschalstown which is due to get underway in the next couple of weeks. Six games will follow this with the top 4 going through to the Semi-Final.

Division 1 First Round: Gaeil Colmcille v Seneschalstown, Trim v Skryne, Dunshaughlin v St. Peter’s, Dunboyne, Wolfe Tones v Donaghmore/Ashbourne

Premier Championship Division 7

2021 will see the return of the Gaeil Colmcille third Championship team. After applying themselves in the Leagues for the last couple of years and sealing the 2019 B League Division 5. Gaeil Colmcille will be graded in Division 7 along some second, third and fourth teams. We will face St. Vincent’s 2nd team in the opening round.

Division 7 Teams: Kilbride 2nds, Drumbaragh 2nds, Curraha 2nds, Kilmainham 2nds, Donaghmore/Ashbourne 4ths, Navan O’Mahony’s 3rd, Trim 3rds, Boardsmill 2nds, Gaeil Colmcille 3rds, St. Vincent’s 2nds.

Intermediate Hurling

2020 saw our Intermediate side drop to Group B of the Hurling groups where should they get out of the group they’ll proceed to the Quarter Final. The Championship due to get underway the early weeks in August with Gaeil Colmcille facing the 2020 Junior Champions of Ratoath or Kilmessan in Round one.

Group B: Ratoath 2nds or Kilmessan 2nds v Gaeil Colmcille, Donaghmore/Ashbourne v Killyon 2nds, Kilskyre/Moylagh or Trim 2nds v Kildalkey 2nds.
