Dads & Lads lose at the death to St. Michael’s.
The Gaeil Colmcille Dads & Lads team played their first competitive match at Saturday’s Family Fun Day against a seasoned St. Michael’s outfit.
Despite leading for three of the four quarters it was St. Michael’s who stole it at the end. Paul Murphy pointed as the game headed for injury time that put Kells three points up, one man changed all that as two time All-Ireland winner Ollie Murphy stepped up with two goals to win the match by three points.
Some great performances on show with plenty of lads rolling back the years with Gaeil Colmcille even securing a deadline day transfer for the great Jody Devine who was instrumental also.
Unfortunately there was some casualties along the way and we wish Shane Flood a speedy recovery after he ruptured his achilles tendon that will see him out of action until were playing Grandad & Lads.
There was a special feel to the match with the inaugural Joe Murphy Perpetual Cup up for grabs and Paul Murphy handed the trophy to St. Michael’s winning Captain Tommy Moriarty.
Well done to all.
