Gaeil Colmcille welcomed Kildalkeys second string Hurlers to Grangegodden for the refixed opening round which was cancelled earlier in the year due to poor weather conditions

For the second game in a row an injury time score denied Gaeil Colmcille a share of the points in Division 3 of the hurling league.
In a busy opening period a Kildalkey free was equalised by one from Stephen Reddy and with less than four minutes gone Cormac O’Reilly pulled on a breaking ball to raise a green flag for the Gaeils.

A point from a free and two from play drew Kildalkey level. Reddy finished off a move to nudge Kells ahead but Kildalkey responded with three points from play. Fionn Ferguson converted a long range free and followed it up with a 65.

Conor Roche’s point from distance was cancelled out by a free by the visitors who added another point with over 30 minutes gone. Two minutes into injury time Kildalkey broke up a promising Kells attack and a quick move forward was finished with a goal just before Eamon Barry blew the half time whistle.

When play resumed the sides traded the next four scores, first from play and then from frees with Ferguson and Reddy the scorers for Kells. Over the next 10 minutes Kildalkey squandered a number of chances and two more frees from Ferguson and Reddy closed the gap. The visitors got the next point from a free, but two minutes later Evan Sheridan finished a fine Kells move with a goal to level the scores.

As both sides battled for the win a Kildalkey point from play was answered by one from Reddy. A free for the visitors gave them the lead once again but when Ferguson pointed from long range two minutes into added time it looked like a draw was on the cards. From the puck out Kildalkey worked the ball into the forward line and just as in the first half they goaled deep in injury time.

Although Ferguson managed another point from a free it was not enough as the visitors left Grangegodden with both points.
