The 2023 Championship draws took place in Meath GAA HQ at Dunganny Centre Of Excellence and first up was the Fairyhouse Steel Senior Football Championship. 16 teams drawn into four groups of four with the top two in each group progressing to the Quarter Final with the bottom two eligible for relegation.

Group A:

Donaghmore/Ashbourne v Dunshaughlin: Dunshaughlin returning to Senior Championship for 2023 after blitzing the Intermediate Championship in ’22. The Moore’s beaten finalists in 2014 and 2016 will fancy themselves this year after a bright start to the year.

Na Fianna v Curraha: Na Fianna bowed out then at the Semi-Final stage to the eventual champions Ratoath while Curraha defeated St. Colmcille’s to preserve their Senior status for 2023.

Group B:

Simonstown v Trim: Simonstown defeated Ballinabrackey on penalties in a relegation Quarter-Final last year while Trim lost out to Na Fianna by a goal in the Quarter-Final played in Clonard.

Seneschalstown v St. Peter’s, Dunboyne: Both teams found themselves in a relegation battle with both defeating Navan O’Mahony’s to relegate them to Intermediate for the upcoming season.

Group C:

Ratoath v Moynalvey: Defending Champions Ratoath will be looking for a fourth Championship in 5 years, This will be a repeat pairing of last years Quarter Final in which Ratoath won on a scoreline of 3-08 to 0-10

St.Colmcille’s v Skryne: 2016 Intermediate Champions St. Colmcille’s with Jody Devine at the helm will be hoping to build on the league campaign last year as beaten finalists. Skryne advanced to the Quarter-Final where they were beaten by finalists Summerhill 2-19 to 0-08.

Group D

Wolfe Tones v Gaeil Colmcille: A repeat of last years Quarter-Final in which The Tones won on a scoreline of 0-11 to 0-09. Both sides know each other inside out and there’ll be nothing between them on the day again.

Ballinabrackey v Summerhill: Both sides paired up against each other in the group stages in 2022 with Summerhill grabbing the bragging rights. Summerhill went on to contest the Senior Final while Ballinabrackey defeated Navan O’Mahony’s in a Relegation Semi-Final.
