U13 Hurling Update

For the 2nd year in a row we (Gaeil Colmcille/Loughcrew Gaeils) are fielding 3 u13 Hurling teams. This group of players are very talented and dedicated having returned to pre season training on January 15th.

The league started back last weekend,  with our Division 1 team not out until April 3rd it was our Division 3 and 4 teams who got the ball rolling.

Division 4:

Donaghmore/Ashbourne 4-08

Gaeil Colmcille/Loughcrew Gaeils 3-03

The Gaels made the long trip to Ashbourne on Saturday afternoon to play a very strong Donaghmore Ashbourne side, The Gaels struggled to cope with the strong wind in the first half and trailed 2-7 to 0-0 at half time. With the wind at their backs, The Gaels got to grips with the hosts and played some fine hurling, unfortunately the final whistle came too soon. Final score. 4-8 to 3-3.

Best on the day were Ross McDonnell, Conor Larkin and Cillian Burke.

Gaeil Colmcille/Loughcrew Gaels Team.

Miguel Toomey Keane, Frankie Mcelherron, Ruairi Carry, Fionn Sheridan, Donnacha Ryan, Evan Connell, Conan Clarke, Cillian Burke, Luke Dardis, Conor Larkin, Adam Gillespie, Conor Thornton, Aodhan Early, Enda Fanning, Adam D’Arcy,  Ross McDonnell Jamie Tyrell.

Division 3:

On Sunday morning our Division 3 team hosted Boardsmill in Grangegodden. Down no less than 7 players we were depleted but each and every player gave it their all. Again we found ourselves playing into the gale in the first half and struggled to come to terms with some sharp Boardsmill firepower. Coaches John Morris and Frank Tunney made a few changes and our lads clawed their way back into it and outscored the visitors for the last 40 mins. Great performances from Evan Flanagan, Michael Gormley, Jack Hand and Ross McDonnell.

Final score

Gaeil Colmcille/Loughcrew Gaeils 2-03

Boardsmill 6-06.
