The combination of Loughcrew Gaels and Gaeil Colmcille became U21 ‘A’ Hurling Champions with a 10 point win over Rathmolyon on Dunganny on a crisp Sunday morning.
With both teams playing out a tight affair in the group stages, it was the Gaels amalgamated side that got the better that day on a scoreline of 1-13 to 0-14 with the game played in Rathmolyon,
A bright start was needed from either side and the Kells/Kilskyre/Moylagh men got it when they took an eight point lead in to the break at 1-12 to 1-04 with the goal coming from corner forward Darren O’Higgins.
The second half was a closer affair with The Gaels shading it 0-07 to 0-05. From the 20 scores, Tom Shine accounted for 0-13 of the points as he was flawless from the stick, Shine’s brother Daire hit three points on the day, Wing forward Sean Tunney tapped over two points while Tiernan Anderson picked up a point from midfield to ensure the victory for Sean Geraghty’s troops.
Captain Jack Connell picked up the cup on behalf of his teammates to queue the celebrations.
